I spent the day playing with my bread machine, because it is my most favorite of all kitchen appliances. If you don’t have a bread machine, I highly suggest you go out and get one.
I make lots of different things in my bread machine. It makes it a whole lot easier to be a whole lot more healthy. Do make note that I use distilled water, organic sugar, unbleached flour, organic eggs, and sea salt with almost all recipes. You really can use whatever you’d like, but for health reasons we use all “natural” forms of the ingredients.
To start the day, I needed to make white bread for sandwiches. I had a slight accident with the last loaf and we were out. So I finally got around to making another one. It went in first because it was the most needed, plus I was able to move on to the next recipe while I let the oven preheat and then the bread bake. Our “perfect white bread” recipe I posted on the blog the other day, so check if out if you need it.
Next I had to make rolls. Well, actually, buns. Same diff really. The recipe is for rolls, but I’m using them as buns for our tenderlions tonight. This particular recipe was given to me by my friend, and it’s AWESOME. They’ve been dubbed “Tabi’s Awesome Rolls”. Not a clue where she got it, but they are my favorite. See recipe below….
Tabi’s Awesome Rolls
1 cup warm milk
1/2 cup butter – softened
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
4 cups flour
2 1/4 tsp yeast
Add all ingredients in order to the bread machine, and set on dough. Shape into rolls and set on pan. Allow to rise an additional 30-45 mins. Bake at 350* until golden brown.
After I pulled the rolls out of the machine and set them out to rise, I started in on the next “project” – Jalapeno Cheese Bread. So it wasn’t part of lunch or supper, but it did sound good. Possibly will be some sort of after supper snack. Or maybe even lunch or supper tomorrow. Who knows, but it WILL get eaten.
The jalapeno bread isn’t a dough – the whole thing is made in the bread machine. Which is probably best because it comes out absolutely perfect. It’s an gooey kind of bread because of the sour cream and cheese. The recipe for it is as follows……
Jalapeno Cheese Bread
3/4 cup Sour Cream
1/8 cup Water
3 cups Flour
1 1/2 teaspoons Salt
1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese (I use shredded, although grated works too)
3 tablespoons Fresh Jalapeno (I used frozen last, but it was from my garden)
Add all the ingredients into the bread machine in order. Set on regular cycle, light crust. Spicy, but not TOO spicy that the kids can’t have a slice or two of it. 😉
