4th of July Decorations from Recycled Water Bottles

Over the last few years, we’ve made it a point to reuse and repurpose recycled materials.  Containers, bottles, and cans all make for fantastic craft projects. Making fun projects for the 4th of July only seemed natural. This is a GREAT idea for parties, especially because you make containers for functional party uses PLUS decoration at the same time……

Some ideas for what to put inside the containers:

  •  Plastic eating utensils at a picnic or BBQ
  •  Sparklers for each kid
  •  Flowers (weigh down with sand or rocks)
  •  Bug catching
  •  Napkins
  •  Other decorations/supplies (again, weigh down first)

While I do like using the bottom for various things, my real passion is the flowers we create. I could not wait to do a red, white, and blue set of flowers to have on hand….

I thought this was also a good opportunity to test out multiple water bottle brands to see which I liked the best. Here were the results….

Deja Blue and Aquafina were my favorites, even though I generally like to make flowers with Dasani for a few different reasons….
