Bread Machine Recipes
Now that I've had a bread machine for several years, I couldn't live without it. There's nothing better than homemade bread, and a bread machine makes it easy enough to make every single day. We've gone so far as to replace our normal sandwich bread with homemade bread machine bread (see recipe below!).
On this page we are sharing some of our favorite automatic bread machine recipes. While you'll find exact ingredients and instructions, many of the ingredients can be changed in most of them. So if there is a spice or two you don't like, feel free to exchange it for something different. If you have your own automatic bread machine recipe, be sure to submit it below!
Classic White BreadThis particular automatic bread machine recipe is actually for the dough only. While you are more than welcome to make the entire thing in your bread machine, we recommend baking in the oven to make a perfect white bread for sandwiches. If you'd rather make it all in the bread machine, just set it on regular bread and skip the part of the instructions that say to bake it.
Classic White Bread
3/4 cup water
2 cups flour (unbleached)
1 tablespoon nonfat dried milk
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter (original recipe was applesauce)
1 1/2 teaspoons yeast
Put ingredients in bread machine on dough cycle. Grease bread pan with butter, and preheat oven to 325*. Bake for 25 mins.
Jalapeno Cheddar BreadThis automatic bread machine recipe is absolutely perfect in the summer time. It's almost a must to make it with fresh jalapenos right out of the garden. The bread itself isn't too spicey, but you can make it hotter by adding more jalapenos. The original recipe is loved by my kids, which is what we have below.
3/4 cup Sour cream
1/8 cup Water
3 cups Flour
1 1/2 teaspoons Salt
2 tablespoons Sugar
1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 cup Sharp cheddar, shredded
3 tablespoons Fresh Jalapeno
1 1/2 teaspoons Yeast
Place all the ingredients in your bread machine in the order shown above. Set on regular cycle and "light" crust setting. Add more jalapenos for more spice.

Herb BreadsThere's a few different herb bread recipes we use, depending on what ingredients we have on hand. My personal favorite is the Cottage Dill, but we don't always have cottage cheese in the fridge (after all, it doesn't keep for long!). Comming in second is the cheddar herb bread, with the "regular" herb bread coming in last (although this one is great for making bread last minute). All three are absolutely WONDERFUL though. Perfect to eat with honey!
Fresh Herb Bread
1 c Plus 2 tb water
2 tb Margarine or butter
3 c Bread flour
2 ts Chopped fresh sage leaves
1 tb Chopped fresh basil leaves
1 tb Chopped fresh oregano leaves
2 ts Chopped fresh thyme leaves
1/4 c Chopped fresh parsley
3 tb Dry milk
2 tb Sugar
1 t Salt
1 1/2 ts Yeast
Place on the ingredients in the bread machine and select basic white cycle. Use medium or light crust color.
Cheese Herb Bread
1 1/8 cups Water
1 1/2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
3 tablespoons Fruit juice concentrate
1/2 cup Swiss -=OR=- cheddar cheese -- shredded
1/2 teaspoon Salt
3/4 teaspoon Baking soda
1 tablespoon Sugar
3 tablespoons Grated parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon Basil
3/4 teaspoon Parsley flakes
4 1/2 tablespoons Vital gluten (I usually skip this, and the bread is fine)
3 1/3 cups Whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons Yeast
Add ingredients according to manufacturer's directions. Medium color setting. Makes 1-1/2 lb loaf. NOTE: Fruit juice concentrate (orange, apple etc..), thawed, is used in place of the fat here. Use butter if you desire, in its place.

1 tablespoon Dry milk
1 tablespoon Sugar
1 teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Butter
1/4 cup Cottage cheese
1/2 tablespoon Dry onion
